Wayfinding is a body of conceptual and expressive paintings and poetry by Michael Heffernan, an Irish artist living in the American South. With paintings and poetry often synthesized as allied forms of expression and emotion, this exhibition explores the overlap in visual and written language through mark-making, which serves as a means of wayfinding to authenticity, and emancipation from isolation and uncertainty. The narrative-based artwork and poetry in this exhibition lean on the artist’s early Irish memories, moving us to the greater embrace of nature and its inspiring creative influence and spiritual nourishment.
