"Every Face Tells a Story" A.R.C.'s Open Studio event, is one of two annual opportunities for public access to the center. This year, on November 20, 21, 22 the artists at the 43,000 sq ft Artisan Resource Center are launching their annual fall event, with a focus on the many creative "faces" of ARC artists, and placing an emphasis on Story Tellers at ARC.
During this 3 day event, visitors will have the opportunity to listen as a Mayan Indian and Cherokee Indian weave together traditional tales with song to reveal a bit of history, truth and life lessons, and see a Telly Award winning filmmaker share his stories on the big screen. Attendees will see work by painters using allegorical imagery, photographers and artists exhibiting images of faces, hear colorful southern roots tales from local artists and writers, and even catch a show of children's theatre or late night old fashion burlesque. Plan to spend the day..
Expressions of "faces" of the center itself will come from the more than 21 studios opening their doors with professional artists and craftsmen in residence working in the fields of sculpture, portrait painting, photography contemporary painting, screen printing, custom furniture making, ceramics, wood turning, textiles, architecture, wood working, decorative arts, jewelry, graphics, advertising, theatre and stained glass.
The event will include story tellers and art containing narrative elements or conveying a story or a message, plus special demonstrations, artists talks, a Short Films Festival, Childrens' theatre, exhibits and a KSU juried student show.
Flame workers from the Atlanta area are gathering at Beads by Design's studio during this event on Friday and Saturday to create flame-worked beads in the "Beads of Courage"® program for the kids of the Aflac Cancer Center.
